It is the same time of the year again. Carol Singing, Yummy cakes and great dinning with family and friends. But somehow this year I don't feel that it should end here. Somehow it is just not about going for the midnight mass and listening to sermons pointlessly. I feel as the times are changing and the world is witnessing the biggest and the deadliest of  problems, we need to reflect upon some things. We need to reflect upon how we can do something to bring about a change. Yes! I know what your next question is going to be. What can a single person do? What can I do to bring a change? I cant!  But I say, yes, YOU CAN. You and I, and a lot of people like us who really feel the need and urge to do something, no matter how small, CAN bring A CHANGE! Now, I am not in for all the sermonizing and giving out the does and don'ts...but I would like to share very simple and basic things we could all do to make our world a better place this Christmas. 1. It is the season of

Punjab Burning!

An Open letter to the people of Punjab. Dear People of Punjab, Yes,You are angry.I know.I know you have been deeply hurt because of the desecration of The Holy Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.And you have the right to a 'Peace Protest',but what kind of a protest is it? A protest where you block roads, disrupt traffic, forcibly shut down shops, demand resignations and relay speeches which instigate violence? Your loud speakers are blaring near my house with so called your peaceful hymns! NO!This is no peace protest. Your initial protest theme has reached an altogether different level, where you are demanding resignations and are adamant to prove to the world about the glory of your religion. Also, if it is a peace protest, why bring the dead past of 1984 alive again? Why fuel today's issues with the fire of 1984? Where were you and your peace protest when people took to swords in the Golden temple for a little speech issue a few years ago?Or when people among you were supp

Dreams...Blessing or a curse?

She noticed it was getting dark outside, as she crossed over the street from her house to enter the one room set situated at the opposite corner.  “You are back!?” they said in unison. “Of course! Had to come!” she said smiling as she got in to the bed next to her friends. This is what she loved about their friendship. The fact that how so many girls and boys lived under one roof, cooked together, ate together. And the fact, that in a world full of craziness this was possible! And it was the only sane thing according to her… “Let’s get going!” said someone among them, breaking her free from her continuous chain of thoughts. “It’s beautiful outside. Let’s go by the sea side…” They hurriedly got ready, each one of them getting ready, pushing and pulling each other. Still amazing her how a bunch of girls and boys could maintain such a neutral relationship with each other even after being together 24 x 7! “It’s getting dark and I feel a storm is building. Look at the clouds, they l

Why Instil Fear?

Image
These days social media has become like a one stop destination for all sort of news and information exchange. But among this is epidemic kind of a disease being openly circulated. it's FEAR. Yes, FEAR. Don't put up your child's photo in your Facebook profile...you are inviting child traffickers! Don't help a person stranded in the middle of the road...he may be with a gang and might just rob you! Don't ignore this message/this photo, God will punish you/something bad will happen to you! All this nonsensical things being circulated sometimes as  pranks and sometimes as a part of "So_CALLED_AWARENESS" ,truly put my mind to a test. Now, many of you will not agree with me when I say that these stupid messages need to be stopped from being circulated and sprayed all over the social media. I will give you a few reasons for why I think these must be dumped. First, it really buggers me to see all sort of long messages and pictures(sometimes even human b

What is Religion?

Pardon me if I say "I do not understand this word RELIGION!" . But honestly I do not. I have lived almost thirty years of my life, and all I know about it is a few learnt hymns and prayers, and yes a fact that there is a superpower..GOD watching us all the time. Now I know, the first thing you are going to do is check my name and relate it to a Religion. Different Religions will shape a different opinion in your mind. Isn't it? A Christian would be to outspoken, a Hindu to superstitious, a Sikh to fanatic and a Muslim too conservative! So,back to my question again... WHAT IS RELIGION? Since ages I have been fighting my inner demon which wants to get up and question the religion heads about why they do a particular ceremony...or why they do it the way they do it! But I would not dare ask them, else I would be regarded as a total Atheist or a blasphemous! Is Religion all about burning candles, attending mid night vigils? Or is it about praying five times a day and fasti
